*Reading time: 5 minutes*
My birthday ( Hey May babies 🙂 ) has come and gone and yes you guessed right, I am another year older and (hopefully) a year wiser. This year I really wanted to celebrate turning 27 in a huge way, so I spent it in Paris, France this year. I cannot begin to tell you how I have longed to go there since childhood. To go sight-seeing of course, but also to witness the culture, the language, and the fashion. I WAS IN LOVE, when I was there. It was such a beautiful and reflective time for me. Birthdays tend to be times for reflection. I will share 7 things I’ve learned from my twenties, so far.
TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE
You know those dreams and goals that you put off for next month or next ____? Yes, we all have them, and we all think that we either have time or that there is this “right time” we are waiting for. The reality is (most) things don’t have a perfect time. You have to step out on faith and conquer it.
YOU CAN’T PLEASE EVERYONE, IT’S IMPOSSIBLE
Regardless of whether you everything “right” or not there will always be someone who will be there to criticize and say what you did wrong. Disclaimer; we should always be open to constructive criticism, and take criticism with a grain of salt. However, you can’t live your life in hopes to please any human being.
Its all of the little things in life that make it rich. Unfortunately, it is also the things that we take for granted. Family. Love. Life itself. We so quickly forget that we are not entitled to anything, no matter what our status in life is.
YOU NEVER KNOW
You shouldn’t underestimate yourself. Its not until we find ourselves in situations that stretch us that we truly find out that we are capable more than previously thought. Each time we step out of comfort zone it grows just a little bigger. “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
NO JUDGMENT NEEDED
Sometimes we are quick to judge someone but we have no idea what lead that person
to who and where they are. It doesn’t mean we can’t decipher between right and wrong but placing ourselves above them becomes the issue. Be kind.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR TEMPLE
You only get one of them. So treat it right. Love it enough to exercise, do a facial, limit stress, and smile from the inside. Love yourself, just as you are while you are growing into the best version of yourself.
FIND GOD AND FIND YOUR PURPOSE
“In all your getting, get God.” My mother used to tell me growing up. I never really understood what that meant then. It wasn’t until life hit me that I knew how much I needed Him. There is nothing like going through life with purpose and being able to affect the lives of others with your gifts.
I do plan to share more of my pictures from Paris in upcoming blogs 🙂
What could you add to lessons learned in your twenties?
